You will need:
- roll of toilet paper
- jar with a lid
- water
- screen (with taped edges so it's not sharp. Have a parent help with this.)
- cookie cutters in simple shapes that you want your paper to be
- container to catch water under the screen (see photo)
- wax paper
- sponge
- optional real natural resources (flower petals, cinnamon, leaves, etc.)
First, take about 7 squares of toilet paper and shred them into the jar. Then add water and cover with lid.
Shake the container until the toilet paper is pulpy.
Prepare screen with the cookie cutter on top and the container to catch water underneath.
Pour the paper pulp into the shape and if any falls out, put it back into the shape. Add natural resources to decorate, (optional) and add a bit of pulp on top to embed flower petals into the paper.
Gently but firmly, press down with a sponge to get excess water out. When you pick up the sponge, the pulp may stick to the sponge, so peel away gently.
Transfer carefully to waxed paper to dry. You can make different variations of shapes and sizes, but if you want more paper, add more squares of toilet paper to your container. Experiment and have fun!! Don't forget to write a letter to someone and let them know that it's written on hand~made paper. :)
